a : a short musical composition of words and music
b : a distinctive or characteristic sound or series of sounds (as of a bird or whale)
c : A record by Scott McPherson & Jamie Grant
Started in November of 2015.
Working over the Internet and across countries Scott McPherson & Jamie Grant are set to soon release their first collaboration: SONG – a 2 CD set containing over 20 pop musical compositions. The duo wrote, played, sang, arranged and recorded these songs themselves with the addition of contributing musicians such as Dee Long, Terry Draper (Klaatu), Zak Nilsson, and Robin & Clara Moir from Tangled Chords.
“…lively, catchy, and clever… Look forward to the forthcoming
McPherson Grant album, coming real soon. I know I will.”
Alan Haber – Pure Pop Radio.com
Song’s shouldn’t be easily described in words – but perhaps felt – more like a blur or a distant memory. Some have mentioned that there is a child like quality to the record – until they read the lyrics. With references and imagery invoking everything from nursery rhymes to old photo albums, dinosaurs to aliens, truckers to astronauts the album’s ethereal journey is rife with surprises.
“Wow – awesome. It’s got a real Pet Sounds vibe. Love it”
Sonic Executive Sessions
What side are you on?
In another eclectic twist – the songs are divided by mood with a “Side UP” CD – featuring the quicker, shorter tunes and a “Side DOWN” CD containing the longer – rainy day songs. After both being told times over on previous records that “every song sounds different” – they tried to group the compositions in a way that was easier to decipher:
Just got off work for the weekend? Migrating to a new planet? Try Side UP.
Just got fired? Species going extinct? Side DOWN might be the better choice.
“…But where’s the next Bob Dylan? Where’s the next Beatles?
Where are the songwriters? Where are the creators?”
Gene Simmons – KISS
